The Dogs of the Hang Seng are the 10 highest yielding Blue Chip companies at the end of a calendar year.

What is the game plan with these Blue Chip stocks?

On the first trading day of the year, you invest in each of these companies HK$10,000. Total portfolio HK$ 100,000. Then you sit and wait. Collect the dividends, because probably these high yield Hong Kong stocks will pay you an income. Last step,  on the last trading day you sell your complete portfolio. Rinse and repeat in the new year.

  1. Column Div per share, only dividends that crossed the payable date in 2024 are calculated.
  2. So far you would have collected HK$ 294.56. That is a nice Dim-Sum lunch.
  3. Column Total Gain/Loss, you see the green number? Yup that is a 19% gain! 

In comparison, (the light green row) HKG:3110 is an ETF that aims for the highest yield that is within their margin of safety. If you would have put in your 100K in to their fund, you’d gained almost 15%. And a bigger Dim-Sum lunch for you and your friends. (Dividends received HK$1,375)
